Is it pajamas? Is it dress-y? Is it both?
Every so often, I find a piece that I love enough to write an ode about.
You can consider this blog post an "Ode to a Jumpsuit". Without, you know, the structure and poetry of an ode.
The key, I've decided, is finding a jumpsuit that fits both your taste and your lifestyle.
When Sotela released their Live Collection, I was in awe of all of the pieces, but the Stella jumpsuit immediately jumped out at me. A huge fan of tencel for it's durability and comfort (and sustainability), I knew the jumpsuit would be easy to wear. I also was drawn to the shape- subtle tapering at the leg, an adjustable wrap detail, and a tie that can be worn in the front or back- I knew it would be so easy to style for almost any occasion my real life would throw at me.
ability to adapt or be adapted to many different functions or activities.
Versatility is a closet motto of mine.
If I can't wear a piece in more than three ways, I'll pass it on, or not add it in the first place.
In the few short weeks I've had this jumpsuit, I've heard "You're wearing the jumpsuit again, aren't you?" from my husband more times than I care to admit.
It's cozy, it's flattering, it's easy, it's versatile.
All of the above are "musts" for this work-from-home mama of two messy toddlers.
Hanna, Sotela's founder, understands the importance of versatility well.
I remember watching Sotela's kickstarter video when I was just beginning to transition my closet to ethically made pieces and being in awe of the idea. One dress, meant to fit your body through all of life's fluctuations. Simplicity, practicality, and sustainability all paired into one beautiful brand.
That was several years ago, and now, I've had the chance to get to know Hanna a little bit better and my admiration for her and her brand has only grown.
After giving birth to her daughter, Olivia (the perfect name, isn't it?), she designed the Live Collection with her sweet girl in mind. She needed (nursing friendly) clothes to LIVE in, not just go to work and change out of at the end of the day. Not just for date night. Not just for "kid free" days.
She designed a line of high quality, beautiful, sustainable clothing to be a mom in. To change diapers in. To breastfeed your baby in. To drive in. To wear to the grocery store. To wear to brunch with your girlfriends. And to wear on date night.
Of course, the collection isn't just for moms, but the fact that the pieces are so perfectly designed with the "Everyday Woman" in mind is inspiring.
It's a piece you can wear with slippers or booties. With lipstick or a messy bun. And believe me, I'll be living in mine.
