Marie Hell || The Marriage of Ethics and Minimalism

It's not everyday that a brand merges the two very founding principles of my blog — fair fashion and slow, simple living, but Marie Hell has found a way to do it effortlessly. The NYC based brand designs dresses and tunics that are meant to simplify getting dressed, with versatile pieces you'll reach for over and over again.

I'm wearing their Unleash Tunic in cream and as someone who generally steers away from all white outfits (#toddlers,) I couldn't resist the ease and versatility that I imagined when I saw this piece. It's so easy to dress up for the rare occasion that I need to be a little bit fancy — heels, a statement necklace, and maybe an updo. But it also seamlessly transitions to casual everyday wear with a denim jacket and a pair of flats (like my huaraches from Filanthropik Threads).

The majority of Marie Hell's styles feature neutral colors and basic silhouettes, which is music to my minimal, neutral loving eyes (and closet). They create pieces that are meant to be worn for years to come. "Clothes should never be a burden," they muse, "They should fall like light — effortless, powerful, beautiful."

With the mantra that " you don't need a million things in your closet... just a few that you love," this brand is one that I can truly get excited about and stand behind.

They don't stop at gorgeously designed minimal clothes either. Their pieces are made in the US with natural fabrics that are thick and durable, yet impossibly soft, unlike other knits which can feel flimsy or too skin hugging. They use naturally milled wood pulp for their jersey knits that is both ethically produced and biodegradable.

Although their pieces are a bit of an investment (most of them are over $200,) the quality and wearability of them all makes it worth the cost. I've heard from a lot of people that finding ethically made dresses for formal events has been tricky for them, but Marie Hell has created an alternative with their dresses that you can wear quite literally anywhere your journey takes you.
